Every church, if it plans on being a part of changing the world for Christ, needs a basic building block upon which to do so. The Southwest church family believes that small groups are that basic building block.

We believe that our mission and purpose is accomplished by creating environments that connect people to each other so meaningfully that it changes the quality of their life.

While Jesus was on earth, he lived with God and for God. And to do that, he lived with people, for people. He said himself that he came to give people the best possible life. And when he could have chosen any way in the world to change the world, he chose to do it by forming a small group of disciples who would, by being with him and with each other, transform from where they were, more into the image of Christ.

When the leadership of Southwest took this seriously, and started studying Christ's life, we saw that Jesus created an atmosphere of transformation among people. It was an atmosphere charged with acceptance, teaching, modeling, challenge, remembering, accompanying, celebrating, and ultimately, freeing (you can hear some teachings on this HERE).

At Southwest, we acknowledge that there are "levels of intimacy" that are all valuable and useful and necessary for a human being to grow up into the life of Christ. And we have and are prayerfully initiating and forging groups at all those different levels for the purpose of connecting people to each other in a way that connects all of us to the Father.
